Accreditation of a general education institution or vocational education institution

Process description

1. Application submission
   The head of an educational institution shall submit to the State Education Quality Service a accreditation application coordinated with the founder no later than three months before the end of the accreditation period or the desired time of accreditation of the educational programme.

2. Organize Accreditation
   The State Education Quality Service shall, on the basis of the documents submitted and the available information, organise accreditation, inform the educational institution and the founder regarding the composition of the expert commission and the beginning of the work thereof in the educational institution.

3. Accreditation in the educational establishment

4. Preparation of the report of the panel of experts
   The expert commission shall draw up a report of the expert commission regarding the results of the accreditation and shall submit it to the State Service of Education Quality. 5. Taking a decision and entering information in a public register
   The State Education Quality Service shall take a decision on the accreditation of an educational institution for a period of six years/on the refusal of accreditation of an educational institution; information on accreditation shall be entered in www.viis.lv. The decision refusing accreditation shall be sent to the educational establishment.
